ISO 9001: Quality Management System Standard

The latest Committee Draft of revisions to ISO 9001 is currently under review. Here’s what you need to know about the timeline:

Draft International Standard (DIS): Expected for public comment towards the end of 2025.
Final Draft International Standard (FDIS): Anticipated availability in May-June 2026.
Publication of ISO 9001:2026: Expected in September 2026.

While it’s too early to share definitive changes, discussions have focused on enhancing risk management, resilience, opportunities, digital transformation, sustainability, and supply chain management.

ISO 14001: Environmental Management System Standard

The current version is ISO 14001:2015. Here’s the expected timeline for the updates:

Draft International Standard (DIS): Expected between February and May 2025.
Final Draft International Standard (FDIS): Due in December 2025.
Publication of the new version: Expected in January 2026.

The draft update aims to provide a better understanding of existing requirements without introducing new ones. Key changes include:

Adaptation to the latest version of ISO’s Harmonised Structure (HS) for management system standards.
Rephrasing current requirements and including notes for better clarity.
Enhancing guidance in Annex A for some key topics.

ISO 45001: Occupational Health and Safety Management System Standard

The current version is ISO 45001:2018. The revision of ISO 45001 has been approved and is now in the planning phase. The reviewed version is likely to be published in 2027.
