ISO 14001:2026 Published

ISO 14001:2026 builds on the 2015 edition rather than replacing it, with an emphasis on clarification and strengthened intent rather than new requirements. The revised standard places greater focus on climate change and environmental conditions within the context of the organisation, clearer expectations around leadership accountability, and improved alignment with other ISO management system standards through the updated harmonised structure. Requirements relating to life‑cycle thinking, environmental performance evaluation and communication have also been refined to improve consistency, auditability and real-world application, while maintaining continuity for organisations already certified to ISO 14001:2015.

Next Steps

There is no immediate action required. Certified clients will have a three‑year transition period to move to the revised standard. We are currently working with UKAS to transition our accreditation to the 2026 version and will contact clients in due course with clear information on the transition arrangements and any actions required.
