As of July 2026, ISO 9001:2026 has not yet been published. The standard is currently at Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) stage, with the ballot due to close on 9 July 2026 and publication expected in September 2026.
For certified organisations, ISO 9001:2015 remains the current certifiable standard until the revised version is formally published.
Based on the FDIS, the revision appears to be an evolution rather than a complete rewrite, with increased emphasis on quality culture, ethical behaviour, leadership, climate change considerations and alignment with the Harmonised Structure.
There is no immediate need for certified organisations to rush into transition activities. ISO 9001:2015 remains the current certifiable standard, and UKAS transition arrangements for certification bodies are still to be formally published. Organisations should remain informed and begin planning, but there is expected to be a reasonable transition period following publication of ISO 9001:2026.
